The vehicle has been specially designed taking care of all the needs of an adventure sport lover, even safeguarding his car from the intense surroundings. It comes with LED headlamps for much better visibility in non-ideal lighting conditions and a GoPro cam fixed for recording the Ladakh journey. It also has a roof mounted storage area, most probably having all the necessary items of trekking like tents, ropes and other equipment. It has got the all new blue theme design, with Grey body cladding all around its body. The tyres are much wider and the suspension would have also been worked upon for a better riding experience. It has got the all new styling, starting from the all-terrain tyres for better grip on every type of surface. ![]() The changes are basically exterior based. It comes with the same 5-speed manual transmission being used on the normal Safari Storme. It’s a 4x4 machine, making out the most possible from every kind of terrain. The new Safari Storme stays same from its engine point of view and uses the 2179 cc motor, producing 140 BHP and 320 NM of torque. It has been named Safari Storme Ladakh edition, making it clear that it’s made for the roads less travelled. The proud new Storme gets a totally updated version, made for expeditions only. No doubt other can do it well, but Tata Safari has always been famous for doing it much better than just well. This is significant, especially in an off-road environment.Tata has always proven itself in term of the off-road capabilities of its Safari from all the other competitors. Storme had less power but it delivered 50 Nm more torque. In comparison, new Safari has a 2.0 litre turbo diesel motor that makes 170 ps / 350 Nm. It was capable of generating 156 ps of max power and 400 Nm of peak torque. New Safari does not have 4WD option as of now.Ĭoming to engine options, Safari Storme was powered by a 2.2 litre diesel motor. Storme was a better off-roader also because it came with 4WD option. While ladder on frame chassis is better suited for off-road conditions, monocoque SUVs deliver better performance on road. One of the key differences between old and new Safari is their use of ladder on frame and monocoque chassis, respectively. New Safari was launched earlier this year in February at a starting price of Rs 14.69 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). New Safari is essentially a 3-row version of Harrier. As may be recalled, the earlier version Storme was discontinued before implementation of BS6 emission norms. Tata has re-introduced the Safari brand, but the new SUV is quite different in comparison to Storme. The doors have also been updated with additional grooves. These are much better looking in comparison to stock units used on Safari Storme. Talking about side profile, a new set of wheels have been used. It can be seen in the blacked-out elements such as top section of front grille, Storme logo, A pillar, tip of C-pillar, rear view mirrors and running boards. LED DRLs have been updated with a parallel strip design, which is truly unique.Īnother key highlight of this mashup is a blacked-out profile. These changes have significantly enhanced the SUVs sporty profile. ![]() ![]() ![]() The various bevels and grooves at the front have come out as more pronounced. On the same lines, the bumper section has been updated with a sleeker look and feel. For example, fog lights get a special treatment to make them look a lot sharper in comparison to the stock version. A number of finer changes have been implemented to ensure a seamless fit for the updated SUV. Safari Storme has been updated with headlamps, grille, bumper, fog lights and skid plate taken from Land Rover Discovery. Much of the customization in this project has been carried out at the front.
